Lyrics by Jonas Lundberg

Been the sole captain of this ferry, in Hingham Bay

crossing baywater to St Mary for some forty-seven ticking years.

With my dreams mocking old salty in his bowl

I am turning my helm firmly

breaking hard and hearing nothing but the ocean call

I see the horizon

I see the horizon, wide and away

I see the horizon

and I´m aiming for anything but shore

Ain´t no time for no improvising, the radio bawls

Good ol´ foreman is symbolizing what´s been scripted in my embryo.

I´ve been playing it by the book now, being smart

Signing off by the Gully Island

now I´m playing it by ear and playing it by heart

I see the horizon

I see the horizon, coming my way

I see the horizon

and I´m aiming for anything but shore

Where can I keep the unsaid and undone

The bowing down, the waiting for nothing

Where can I keep all those times and the ways

of people I love, and keep them resounding

I don´t mind being the submitter, from time to time

but my water is turning bitter and I know the cure is in my mind

The old ferry is more than rusty and short of fuel

and the wind may be kind of gusty

but the captain is the captain of his own soul.

I see the horizon

I see the horizon, coming my way

I see the horizon

and I´m aiming for anything but shore

I see the horizon, coming my way

I see the horizon, coming my way

I see the horizon

and I´m aiming for anything but shore
